I am qualified in Equine Osteopathy and Equine Sports Massage. I can help your horse stay supple and comfortable for their work or in rest and retirement. Osteopathy is a fantastic holistic treatment approach that can help with a wide range of issues. Coupled with the techniques of massage, which includes myofascial release and stretches, I believe I can provide pain relief, improved blood supply and fluid dynamics, improved range and quality of motion and improved posture.
This deeply effective treatment also helps provide much needed relaxation. Horses are extremely expressive animals if you know what to look for, and most owners are amazed at the reactions from their horses during the session.
Most owners find they get the best results from using the full range of services that I provide, including combining lessons with Osteopathy and Massage sessions. However, Osteopathy and Massage sessions are of course available on their own.
During a session I will assess your horse statically and dynamically, for posture, conformation and movement. I will then conduct a thorough palpation of joints and soft tissues. Based on my findings and the case history, I will then apply techniques to assist your horse, and make recommendations for aftercare, exercises, and sometimes for referral to other professionals such as farrier, saddler, dentist or vet. I provide a written report with every session.
If, during the session, I find that your horse has discomfort which could be due to saddle or bridle, I am trained to assess the fit of these for you. Any assessment of tack I provide is for the purposes of referral to a saddler. I do not adjust or sell saddles, therefore you know that my opinion is unbiased.
Initial appointments can be up to 90 minutes to allow for assessments and getting to know the horse and owner.
Subsequent appointments are usually up to 60 minutes.
